Getting around Austin

Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) is southeast of downtown. CapMetro's Route 20 starts at the airport and runs every 15 minutes, seven days a week, along Riverside Drive before crossing the river into downtown and continuing through the UT campus. CapMetro estimates the airport-to-downtown trip at about 35 minutes. For our South Congress and Ladybird Lake guests, that means the bus from the airport runs along the same street as, or right through, the neighborhood you are staying in.

Two other lines are worth knowing. MetroRapid 801 runs from Southpark Meadows up South Congress and North Lamar to Tech Ridge, passing through downtown and UT, so it is the easy way from SoCo to the Capitol or campus. CapMetro Rail's Red Line runs between downtown and Leander; Howard Station, on West Howard Lane, is the Red Line stop nearest the Wells Branch area around our Pflugerville property.

When to visit: Austin's festival calendar

Austin's biggest weekends are set by a few events, and prices and availability across the city move with them.

For any of these, South Congress and Ladybird Lake are the properties to book first, and early. Both are south of the river and close to downtown, and the South Congress description puts downtown about a 13-minute walk away. If your festival days are long, a kitchen for breakfast and a washer for the second weekend make a real difference.

South Congress, East Riverside or north Austin?

Our three Austin properties suit different trips. South Congress is the one to book if walking matters most: the property description puts SoCo, Auditorium Shores and the Continental Club minutes away and downtown about a 13-minute walk. Ladybird Lake, in East Riverside, is close to the same lake and neighborhoods but on a quieter residential stretch, which suits a longer stay. Pflugerville, in the Wells Branch area, is for trips centered on the north side of the metro, where you will be driving most days anyway.

If you are not sure, start with where you need to be at 9 a.m. on a weekday. For downtown offices, the Capitol, UT or a festival, pick one of the two lakeside properties. For north Austin, Round Rock or Pflugerville, pick Pflugerville and skip the cross-town commute.

Extended and corporate stays in Austin

For longer stays, choose by where your weekdays will be. Downtown, the Capitol area and UT are best served from South Congress and Ladybird Lake, both on bus routes into the center. Work in north Austin, Round Rock or Pflugerville points to our Pflugerville property instead, which saves the daily drive across the city.
